I love stories where the hero is scarred or injured in some way, so this story was right up my alley! I look forward to reading another book by Beth Cornelison. He feels life is unfair and has a hard time adjusting. I almost always fall in love with characters and like to know how things work out for them.
Disappointingly, her feelings for Steve, the ex-boyfriend, turn out to be tepid, taking away from the idea that she was that injured in the first place. My only complaint, as far as the story, is Abby’s insistence on the word “love. There’s just something about a tortured hero I enjoyed Healing Luke immensely.

The love story is great but made even better because it could be a slice of real life with real people. What I did like was that BC didn’t “prettify” the characters. Luke and his brother Aaron used to compete for women.
