For verily, Thou hast ordained for Thy bondsmen Thy worship and bidden them to supplicate unto Thee and hast assured them of Thy response. O Allah, my tribulation is tremendous, And my bad state is excessive, And my fetters have tied me down, And my far-fetched hopes have held me back from my gain And this world with its delusions, my own soul with its offences and my delay have deceived me.
Imam Ali said- “Whosoever keeps awake in devoutness on this night 15th Shaban and recites the Dua of Prophet Khizr, undoubtedly that person’s supplication will be responded to and granted. And despite the fact that my heart has been filled with pure knowledge kmuail Thee and when my tongue has repeatedly praised Thee and my conscience has acknowledged Thy love and despite my sincere confessions of my sins and my humble entreaties submissively made to Thy divinity?
By Thy honour truly do I swear that, if Thou wilt allow my power of speech to be retained by me in the hell, I shall amongst its inmates cry out bewailingly unto Thee like the cry of those who have faith in Thy kindness and compassion And I shall bemoan for Thee for being deprived of nearness to Thee the lamentation of dya who are bereaved, dha I shall keep on calling unto Thee: According to Allama MajlesiKumayl ibn Ziyada confidante of Ali ibn Abi Talib had attended fua assembly in the Mosque at Basra which was addressed by Imam Ali in the course of which the night of the 15th of Sha’aban engglish month was mentioned.
And over tongues voicing sincerely the profession kunail Your Unity and giving thanks to You in praise. So I declare with certainty that were it not for what You hast decreed concerning the chastisement of Your deniers. Owner of my bondage!
So I ask You by Your might not to let my evil works and acts veil my supplication from You.
O Ample in blessings! Far be it from You! Glory and praise be to Thee, wouldst Thou wish to be seen disregarding the voice of a muslim bondman, incarcerated therein the hell for his disobedience and imprisoned within its pits for his evildoings and misdeeds, crying out to Thee the utterance of one who has faith in Thy mercy and calling out to Thee in the language of those who believe in Thy unity and seeking to approach Thee by means of Thy epithet “the Creator, the Nourisher, the Accomplisher and the Protector of the entire existence”?
Who knoweth without acquisition of learning! O’ Thou who holdeth my destiny and who art aware of my suffering and poverty.

Dua-e-Kumayl with English Translation – دُعَاء كُميل
My God and my Lord! Forgive every sin that I have committed and every error that I have erred O Allah! Even though it is a tribulation and ordeal whose stay is short, whose subsistence is but little and, whose period is but fleeting. O You who gave rise to my creation, to the remembrance of me, to the nurture of me, to goodness toward me and to nourishment on me.
English Translation of Dua Kumail
And Allah bless His messenger and the holy Imams of his household. And be gracious to me by answering me favourably, And nullify my slips And forgive my lapses! My God and my Lord! And by the decision which You hast determined and imposed and through which You hast overcome him toward whom it has been put into effect.
Bestow upon me for the sake of Your having given rise [to me] with generosity and Your previous goodness to me!
And You— engliish is Your eulogy— said at the beginning and wernt gracious through kindness as a favour. And by Thy grandeur which prevails upon all things And by Thy authority which is exercised over all things And by Thy own self that shall endure forever after all things have vanished And by Thy Names which manifest Thy power over all things And by Thy knowledge which pervades all things And by the light of Thy countenance which illuminates everything O Thou who art the light!
And for which of them would I lament and weep? Is he who has been believer like unto him who has been ungodly? Have mercy on the infirmity of my body, the delicacy of my skin and the brittleness of my bones O’ Thou!
